Federal fishing regulationis now prohibit keeping any grouper from January thru April.
What a great week! The wind died down to a light breeze, the seas settled to a gentle roll and the fishing couldn't have been better.
On the Atlantic side dolphin-fish, black-fin tuna, and wahoo were just outside the reef line in 150 to 200 feet of water on the color lines. Kingfish were being caught in 100 to 150 ft of water. The yellowtail snapper were a little slow, but as the water warms up so should they.
On the Gulf of Mexico side the close wrecks and reefs were still producing some cobia in the 20-30 lb. range. Farther west, around the Marquesas keys permit up to 20 lbs were the name of the game.
Got to love the keys in the winter time
